I have been helping people in our area better their lives for 28 years. I have worked in numerous community mental health clinics, schools, the Department of Mental Health, on various crisis teams, and in hospitals. This gives me a broad base of knowledge from which to draw upon to help people with many different kinds of problems.
My Masters degree is in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts. I received my LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) in 1994 and my LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in 1998. I am also certified as a School Adjustment Counselor and a Guidance Counselor. I am certified in EMDR a type of therapy that helps people with trauma as well and other disorders.
I work with people of most ages and backgrounds: older teens, adults, as well as with couples and families. I have worked with and in numerous social service agencies in our area and can help you understand the difference between DMH, DCF, DMR, and DYS, and how to help you or your loved one get help from these agencies.
Further, I was also in the Army National Guard for six years and thus understand the lingo and lifestyle of those who serve our country. It would be my privilege to work with anyone who has issues/trauma from either being in the military or in combat or the spouse/family of someone in the military. I am trained in EMDR, which is helpful for any person who has had trauma in their life.
My approach is eclectic and encompasses a wide variety of counseling methods, depending upon your needs and wishes. I will help you to take a look at all the things that can affect your life: the environment in which you live, your childhood, your health, your diet, your ethnic background, etc. Together, we will create a plan to improve/solve your issues.
